Back at College

It is hard to believe how fast the past 5 weeks have been, I'm now back at college for a week to write up everything that has happened. Over the last week I've again been busy and have enjoyed every bit of it.

On Sunday it was my last Sunday so I had to get up at the front and tell everyone what I'd done and what I'd enjoyed most about the placement. Afterwards everyone was coming up to me and saying "I can't believe this is your last week!" It was really strange because in one sense, I felt like I'd been there forever because they were all so welcoming, on the other hand, I felt as if I'd just started.

Monday lunchtime I went into a junior school in Pinhoe with Kay one of the ICE workers to do their lunchtime club, this was on Moses and the Burning Bush and we were able to tell 20 children that God sees our suffering (like the Isrealites) and can help us. That afternoon, Simon, Alan, Josh (Simon's son) and I drove to Sidmouth to Sidholme Hotel for a Baptist Ministers Conference. This was a great (If slightly strange) experience and I was able to meet up with a friend of mine who baptised me in 2005 who is now pastoring a church in St Austell.

On Tuesday and Wednesday I was again at the conference enjoying the amazing food (and good teaching and worship too)!

Wednesday evening was my first experience of a Baptist Church Meeting where lots of things were discussed and voted on (including the funding for a new house for Simon!)

Thursday had a quiet start as Simon was busy finalising moving house plans, so I went for a walk around the local area. I met up with a few people from church and was able to have a long chat with a friend on her allotment.

Thursday evening was the High School Cell and the College Cell at Simon's house,
High School Cell went well, we watched a
Nooma video and then chatted about how God is in control and how it can sometimes be difficult to see that when we're in the middle of a storm in our lives. High School was great, I really love going to that cell as all the guys are only a few years off my age and aso we got on really well. We spent a lot of time chatting and then we celebrated the fact that Simon is going to be moving. We then continued looking at the Fruit of the Spirit, focussing this week on Joy.

Friday evening was FNX: the Friday Night Experience at St Peter's School in Exeter. This was an event for the whole county and so it was good to see that (despite it being Red Nose Day) there was a hall full of young people. There was a live band and testimony and then Roy Crowne (DIrector of Youth for Christ) spoke to them and gave them a chance to respond to God, and many young people did.

Praise God for such an amazing Block Placement experience!
