Hi Everyone,
Sorry I've not written anything in absolutely ages, however I thought that it was time for an update on what I'm doing.
I am now the Youth Worker at Christ Church in Warminster, where I spend my time telling young people about God and helping them to grow in their relationship with Him (or start one if they haven't already).
I love the young people that I'm working with, I love my job and I really love seeing what God has done and is doing in the lives of those I'm working with.
Next weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) we're doing what I think is going to be the hardest challenge that I have ever faced as a Youth Worker. We're doing Slum Survivor. This means that we will be building and living in slums for the weekend and facing various challenges along the way.
WHY? I hear you say. Well we're raising money for some of the poorest people in the world who live in slums every day of their lives. And it is for that reason only that I am going to spend two nights in a very cold autumn in a shelter that I've made myself with no sleeping bag or hot water bottle, with only rice and lentils to eat.
Please think about sponsoring us, we're trying to raise as much money as possible for Soul Action. If you'd like to sponsor us please click here and you can donate online!
I'll keep you posted as to how it went!

Block Placement Level 3 2008
Hi everyone,
I'm sorry I haven't written in ages, but here is what I'm doing at the moment.
I am on my Level 3 Block Placement in Melbourne, Australia staying at my cousin's house while he and his family are away in Thailand.
I am doing a 5 week placement where I am working with the Youth department of a large Church called Crossway Baptist Church.
It is the summer holidays here in Melbourne and so I am doing a lot of preparation work for the new term. There has been a few large changes in the leadership of this department and so there is a lot more preparation needed than usual.
I'm working closely with the Administrator of the Youth and Young Adults departments and so am able to see how both of these departments work.
I'm helping to plan lots of of different retreats for the department leaders at the moment including an Amazing Race around Melbourne City and a Vive (Young Adults) Mystery Tour to somewhere secret!
Anyway I'm a week and 1/2 into the 5 weeks and I'll try to keep you up to date during my time in Australia.

Summer "Holiday"
Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry I haven't written in ages, I am terrible at remembering to write this each week.
Heres a bit of a catch up of what I've been up to:
I got all my essays in on time, finished the year, PASSED IT, started working at BHS full time in the resturant.
At the moment I'm writing an essay on a weekend away that I did with All Saints Church, Stapehill and Hampreston. I led the youth work where we looked at being free in Christ.
I'm also trying to find a dissertation topic (and really struggling) any suggestions would be greatly apreciated!
I'd love to hear what you guys are doing at the moment too.

Mission week
Hi everyone,
College has been really busy recently and I haven't therefore had time to update my blog.
I've been spending my time in lectures and writing essays on Human Growth and Development. Now I'm on to writing my Level 2 portfolio, researching an ethics presentation on the Trage Justice Campaign (any ideas - please email me!) and writing an apologetics essay on Robbie Williams' Escapology album.
Also tomorrow I'm going on Mission for a week with my tutor group. We are going to Abbey Church in Gloucester from tomorrow until Sunday 27th May. There is a team of 8 of us who are going to go and run the church services, the youth work, school assemblies, house groups and much much more!

Summer Term
Hi everyone,
I'm back at College now after a lovely Easter at home with my family. At Moorlands the summer term is full of essays and volleyball. I'm looking forward to the volleyball and some of the challenges of the essays. One week into the new term and with beautiful weather I've been out enjoying the sunshine as well as studying hard working on a Youth essay. Its great to be back and as a whole college again (as last year the whole college was never there because of Block Placements) and I am looking forward to the opportunities that this term will bring.

Home for Easter
I'm back now in Hamworthy after spending a week in Moorlands to start writing up everything that I'd done on Block Placement. It was good to be at college last week and see all of my friends from other years and the people in my year who came back to write up what they'd done on Block.
On the Saturday when I arrived back it was Open Day at College and many of my friends came to look around. It was a really lovely day with tasty lasagne and sticky toffee pudding for lunch, in the afternoon they had a chance to have a go at archery or have a walking tour around Christchurch.
Sunday was a chance for me to catch up with friends from Burton Community Church and Church for the Nations in Winton. It was Mothering Sunday and I ended up with some Tulips and a potted Primula - this was the firt time I'd ever recieved a present on Mother's Day, it made me feel old!
The week was pretty uneventful, I worked hard on the write up of Block Placement and got almost 1/3 of the way through.
Friday morning started with a college continental breakfast that was amazing - tonnes of fruit and pastries. After room inspections, we had Chapel and we all took communion together. At the end Colin Bennett (our Vice Principal) said that to ilustrate a point that he'd made in his sermon, three members of staff were going to be blindfolded and led on a mystery tour. He blindfolded up Steve Brady (our Principal) and Alistair and Dotha and then Steve was led outside on a mystery tour. The other staff members then took off their blindfolds and we were all told that Steve's son had arranged for Steve to go on a helicopter flight for his birthday. We all then followed him outside andsaw his amazement when he realised what was happening. After a false start (he needed the loo!) he was soon rising above the college complete with camera in hand and we all waved to him as he left.
I came home friday afternoon and was straight to work at BHS on Saturday where I met all my collegues again and then soon remembered how to use the tills.

Back at College
It is hard to believe how fast the past 5 weeks have been, I'm now back at college for a week to write up everything that has happened. Over the last week I've again been busy and have enjoyed every bit of it.
On Sunday it was my last Sunday so I had to get up at the front and tell everyone what I'd done and what I'd enjoyed most about the placement. Afterwards everyone was coming up to me and saying "I can't believe this is your last week!" It was really strange because in one sense, I felt like I'd been there forever because they were all so welcoming, on the other hand, I felt as if I'd just started.
Monday lunchtime I went into a junior school in Pinhoe with Kay one of the ICE workers to do their lunchtime club, this was on Moses and the Burning Bush and we were able to tell 20 children that God sees our suffering (like the Isrealites) and can help us. That afternoon, Simon, Alan, Josh (Simon's son) and I drove to Sidmouth to Sidholme Hotel for a Baptist Ministers Conference. This was a great (If slightly strange) experience and I was able to meet up with a friend of mine who baptised me in 2005 who is now pastoring a church in St Austell.
On Tuesday and Wednesday I was again at the conference enjoying the amazing food (and good teaching and worship too)!
Wednesday evening was my first experience of a Baptist Church Meeting where lots of things were discussed and voted on (including the funding for a new house for Simon!)
Thursday had a quiet start as Simon was busy finalising moving house plans, so I went for a walk around the local area. I met up with a few people from church and was able to have a long chat with a friend on her allotment.
Thursday evening was the High School Cell and the College Cell at Simon's house,
High School Cell went well, we watched a Nooma video and then chatted about how God is in control and how it can sometimes be difficult to see that when we're in the middle of a storm in our lives. High School was great, I really love going to that cell as all the guys are only a few years off my age and aso we got on really well. We spent a lot of time chatting and then we celebrated the fact that Simon is going to be moving. We then continued looking at the Fruit of the Spirit, focussing this week on Joy.
Friday evening was FNX: the Friday Night Experience at St Peter's School in Exeter. This was an event for the whole county and so it was good to see that (despite it being Red Nose Day) there was a hall full of young people. There was a live band and testimony and then Roy Crowne (DIrector of Youth for Christ) spoke to them and gave them a chance to respond to God, and many young people did.
Praise God for such an amazing Block Placement experience!
